Drury-Chaney Loop Trail

redwood-sorrel

An easy, 2.4 mile hike, on an even and a well-compacted trail.

This is one of the most beautiful hikes along the Avenue!

The grove is in a protected pocket that stays cool and moist.

It’s notable for the dense growth, and the thick carpet of Redwood Sorrel (oxalis oregana), which looks similar to clover. In Spring the sorrel is dotted with tiny flowers.

Directions:  Proceed north along the Avenue of the Giants; look for Auto Tour Marker #8 on the West side of the road, just before Pepperwood. It is difficult to see coming from the South; if you reach the produce stands in Pepperwood, you’ve gone too far.
